Aleksandr Golovin (30) looks set to remain at AS Monaco, despite interest from Russia, as per a report from Foot Mercato.
Golovin is currently Monaco’s longest-serving player, however, despite the closure of the transfer window in France, there remained a possibility of the Russia international still leaving the Principality club, with transfer windows elsewhere still open. There was strong interest from his native Russia, with Spartak Moscow and Zenit St. Petersburg both in for the Monaco playmaker.
Talks were described as “advanced” by L’Équipe, however, at least for now, Golovin looks set to remain at the Stade Louis II. The player was not convinced by the offers submitted by the two clubs, Foot Mercato understands. There could yet be a late twist, although time is running out with the transfer window in Russia shutting later today.
A sale could, however, be on the cards in the winter, with Monaco needing to make more sales in order to keep their promises to the DNCG.
