Alex Nascimento is set to report to Santos on Monday 12 and will remain on standby while the club assesses their defensive plans, according to Diario Do Peixe.
The centre-back has been on loan at Athletic and is awaiting a board decision on the position. Vojvoda currently has Luan Peres, Adonis Frías, Alexis Duarte and Zé Ivaldo, and has moved to loan Luisão to Goiás, so Alex may also be considered for the squad.
His representatives are studying the market and should reach a decision with Santos soon. He made nine appearances for the Minas Gerais club Athletic, and six for Portuguesa last year. His contract runs until December this year.
A São Paulo academy graduate, he spent time at Fluminense before joining Santos in 2019 for the under-20s. He debuted for the first team in 2020 but struggled to establish himself. A spell at Famalicão in Portugal followed, then injuries and Covid-19 limited his chances on returning.
After recovering he earned minutes under Paulo Turra and consolidated his place in 2023, though he played only seven times that year. Since arriving, he has featured in 34 matches for Santos and scored one goal.
In 2024 he started the season in physiotherapy after fracturing his right ankle in September 2023 while preparing for a Brasileirão game against Cruzeiro. He still made five Série B appearances, against Avaí, Amazonas, Ceará, Paysandu and Ponte Preta.
