On Friday, Alex Santana and Renato mark a month of solitary sessions at CT Joaquim Grava, with both excluded from Corinthians' plans for the season and viewed as potential makeweights in future deals.
According to Globo.com, there have been no takers so far. Internally, the hope is that their agents secure moves, ideally with the new clubs covering full salaries.
Alex Santana, 30, was signed from Athletico-PR in 2024. He contributed to the late surge that kept Corinthians in the Brasileiro that year, then won the Paulistão the following season.
He lost ground in the second half of 2025 and joined Grêmio on loan, his progress hindered by injuries. Back at the training ground on six January, he wished to stay but Dorival Júnior has not reinstated him.
Corinthians are currently seeking a holding midfielder, a role Santana has performed elsewhere in his career. To maintain fitness, he trains at the club and tops up work with a personal trainer.
Centre-back Renato, 21, has yet to make his senior debut. Promoted after finishing his academy years, he trained with the first team but never featured.
Loaned to Atlético-GO during the 2025 Série B, he did not play due to physical issues. While the club may recruit another centre-back, Renato has not been earmarked for first-team minutes. His deal runs to the end of July 2027 and he is racing to get minutes before it expires.
