Alexander Bah marked his return with the opener as Benfica beat AVS 3-0, sparking a wave of support in the dressing room.

The Denmark international was back more than a year after suffering a complete ACL tear in his left knee on 8 February 2025. According to Glorioso 1904, team-mates quickly reacted on social media to his comeback.

Goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin, 24, expressed his happiness at seeing Bah back on Instagram. Fredrik Aursnes, who missed the AVS match to rest for the trip to Madrid, also posted a welcome message on the same platform.

Man of the Match Andreas Schjelderup added his praise, addressing the No 6 in fraternal terms.

The pair had recently featured in a light-hearted moment when Benfica captioned a photo of them “Super danish bros” on social media, a slip given Schjelderup is Norwegian.

Benfica visit Real Madrid on Wednesday 25 February for the second leg of the Champions League play-off, kick-off 20:00 at the Bernabéu, with television coverage on Sport TV5.
