Alexander Bernhardsson ‘to leave’ Holstein Kiel, Valencia and Wolfsburg considered | OneFootball

Aftonbladet reports that Sweden international Alexander Bernhardsson, a starter in all three World Cup matches, is close to leaving Holstein Kiel, with Valencia and Wolfsburg leading the chase.

The 27-year-old is a right winger who can also operate on the left. Kiel value him at five and a half million euros, while Valencia currently prioritise funds for Girona right-back Arnau Martínez.

Both destinations appeal to the player, either Spain or remaining in Germany, although any move depends on a club matching Kiel’s demands in the coming days.

Valencia’s main wing option remains the Belgian Largie Ramazani of Leeds United, viewed as the best value and with LaLiga know-how by CEO of Football Ron Gourlay.

Wolfsburg have stepped up their push for Bernhardsson, aiming to make him a central figure in their bid to return to the Bundesliga. He could also reunite with international team-mate Mattias Svanberg.

Bernhardsson joined Kiel two and a half years ago from IF Elfsborg. A proposed move to FC Copenhagen fell through in mid-July because the Danish club deemed the fee too high.

An ankle injury limited him last season, yet he delivered two goals and 10 assists in 20 second-tier matches, totalling 1,400 minutes for Kiel.
