According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, Alexia Putellas bade an emotional farewell at Spotify Camp Nou, taking to the pitch for the final time as a Barça player, flanked by her trophies and the people who shaped her career.

She said this season had been deeply emotional and vowed to open up, admitting she had felt a huge emptiness the day before. The decision, she added, had no perfect timing, and continuing risked blurring what they had built. She sat on the turf amid 38 trophies.

She reflected on breaking barriers for girls who wanted to be footballers and on becoming a club emblem. Former coach Xavi Llorens joined her, thanked for bringing her back in 2012 and for telling her she could become an emblem, a line she said had come true.

Tributes arrived by video from team-mates and club greats, and Patri Guijarro’s message finally broke her composure. Club figures including Marta Torrejón, Irene Paredes and Joan Laporta also took part, while Rafa Yuste thanked her for commitment and example.

Fighting tears, she said she had emptied herself, would miss training and the battles that made them better, and insisted her story would always be with Barça. Her next step is undecided and she will take the summer to choose, but she plans to stay connected through a joint Barça and Foundation academy aimed at reaching 400 girls. She left open the possibility of returning one day.
