Alisha Lehmann has described her relief after beating former club Juventus in what was an ‘incredible win’ for Como.
The former Juventus star left the club in summer with the hopes of finding more regular minutes.
There is no doubt that her move away from Juventus saved Alisha Lehmann.
With the Serie A Femminile giants, Lehmann struggled for games and despite being one of the biggest names in women’s football the 26-year-old fell out of favour fast at Juve.
Since moving to Como, the forward has looked like a completely new player.
Speaking during the international break, Lehmann stated the importance of her team’s win over Juventus last weekend.
“Como will continue to grow in the coming years. The victory against my former club, Juve, was incredible and did me a lot of good. I will never say anything bad. I had a good year,” she said.
“I am now a regular starter, and playing is the main reason why we play football. Como also has a really interesting project in women’s football.”
So far this season Lehmann has started every game for her new side. Although she is yet to score for Como, Lehmann is getting the minutes she so badly needed in a new life for the Swiss international.
Lehmann added: “I feel good in Como. It’s the perfect place for me and, certainly, the most beautiful place I’ve ever lived. I live right on the lake, and it’s absolutely magnificent.
“I’ve even run into a few celebrities because we go to the same restaurants. But it’s nice here because everyone respects each other so much.”
Despite her success with Como, Lehmann isn’t happy with how her career is going just yet.
The Swiss forward was selected for her nation’s upcoming friendlies but being picked for the squad isn’t enough for Lehmann.
“We had a great time during the European Championship,” she said. “It was a truly incredible experience. When you’re a footballer, you always want to play. So I’d be lying if I said I was happy on the bench. Of course, I wasn’t. But football is also about supporting your team. And during the tournament, we created a great bond. It was perfect.”
Lehmann featured just once off the bench at the Euros and is looking for more regular game time now she has established herself at a new club.
Switzerland play Scotland and Canada during the upcoming international break.
