Didier Deschamps used the United States tour to rotate heavily across wins over Brazil and Colombia, with only Lucas Chevalier unused.
Two entirely different starting XIs beat Brazil 2-1 on Thursday, then Colombia 3-1 on Sunday. According to L'Équipe, 25 of the 26 called up featured, with Chevalier, now third in the goalkeeping hierarchy behind Brice Samba, the only player not to appear.
Deschamps had said the March camp was about getting as many players on the pitch as possible, and he viewed the two matches very positively, noting that everyone made the most of their minutes.
He added the performances will help shape the squad that will assemble for the World Cup, staged from 11 June to 19 July. The list will be announced on 14 May, the day after Lens face PSG, a match postponed to Wednesday 13 May.
Asked on Sunday about his fellow goalkeeper, whom he has moved ahead of during a difficult spell for Chevalier, benched at PSG by Matveï Safonov, Samba played down criticism. He highlighted the demands of the role, acknowledged fluctuations in form, and stressed the dressing room’s support for Chevalier and belief in his qualities.
