Amar Dedic ‘to join’ Newcastle as Benfica omit defender for Casa Pia clash | OneFootball

Benfica will be without Amar Dedic for the Casa Pia match, with the right-back close to joining Newcastle in a 35 million euro deal.

The move is at the paperwork stage and, according to Record, an announcement is expected on Sunday. Dedic is not due to return to the training ground and will not be selected.

Benfica have also secured 17.5% of any future profit on a subsequent sale. The Bosnia international, 23, joined in summer 2025 from Salzburg and is now set to leave the Estádio da Luz.

He trained on Saturday morning, then said his goodbyes to team-mates and staff at the Benfica Campus, clearing his locker before departing.

Newcastle hope to have him involved quickly and are targeting a debut next Saturday against Liverpool.

Dedic had not expected to leave Lisbon in this window, yet he is enthusiastic about the new challenge in the Premier League.
