Betway Premiership outfit AmaZulu FC have confirmed that newly signed midfielder Liam Bern is eligible to feature for the club after a legal dispute with Cape Town Spurs.

The 22-year-old enforcer joined Usuthu on a free transfer following the Urban Warriors' relegation to the ABC Motsepe League - the third tier of South African football.

While Bern had agreed a deal to join AmaZulu, Spurs believed they are entitled to a transfer fee despite losing their professional status, which prompted a legal battle between the club and player.

However, it's understood that the Cape club eventually dropped the case after losing similar disputes regarding Asanele Velebayi and Luke Baartman, who have since signed for Kaizer Chiefs on a free.

Now, Bern has also received a greenlight to turn out for the KZN-based outfit as the PSL DRC declared him a free agent, ending the dispute.

The Cape Town-born utility player could be in line to make his debut when AmaZulu host Siwelele FC at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, 22 November.
