América face Chivas in a friendly as preparations continue for the Apertura 2026 run-in, with minutes for new arrivals the focus.

According to Americayya.net, Las Águilas drew 0-0 with Cruz Azul in a recent friendly that brought debuts for Santiago Mingo and Santiago Bueno, a start for Franco Rossano, and Luis Ángel Malagón’s return after seven months.

Malagón impressed on his comeback, making several important saves to keep the clean sheet intact.

The Bueno-Mingo pairing will be first-choice in the coming matches. They looked short of rhythm, but the potential of the duo is clear.

Rossano finally saw minutes and it is hard to understand why he had not featured earlier, with Almada often using Kevin Álvarez and Dagoberto Espinoza on the left instead. He showed a good level in that friendly.

Against Chivas, Almada might adjust a few pieces, yet these friendlies are intended to build rhythm so the reinforcements hit top level late in the Apertura 2026.

In goal, Malagón would start again. The back four would be Kevin Álvarez at right-back, Mingo alongside Emilio Lara at centre-back, and Cristian Borja at left-back.

In midfield it would be Alan Cervantes with Erik Sánchez, with Carlos Álvarez on the right and Alejandro Zendejas on the left. Up front, Miguel Borja would partner Henry Martín.
