The Hammers announced the player’s exit via a post on their official club website this afternoon.
The 34-year-old United States international joined the East Londoners in January 2024 after leaving National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club Gotham FC. Mewis made four appearances for The Hammers in all competitions. The midfielder missed the majority of the 2024/2025 campaign as a result of her pregnancy while injuries have also restricted her game time in England.
Mewis was out of contract at West Ham United this summer and it has been confirmed that she is moving on.
After the player’s West Ham United departure was confirmed, manager Rehanne Skinner said “On behalf of everyone at the Club, I would like to thank Kristie for her contributions to West Ham United during her time in east London.
“Kristie has been unlucky with injuries since she joined us so probably hasn’t played in the famous Claret and Blue as many times as she would have liked, but it’s still been a total pleasure having someone of her calibre and experience within our team environment.
“As Kristie starts to navigate her new norm of motherhood, we fully appreciate that her priorities have changed and so, whatever the future has in store for her and her family, I would like to wish them all the very best.”
Mewis is the sixth player to leave West Ham United this summer.
