Amos Wanjala takes next step with senior Kenya debut | OneFootball

Amos Wanjala has won his first senior cap for Kenya, the Valencia academy defender featuring in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying against Eritrea.

According to Superdeporte, Benni McCarthy, a former Celta player, is Kenya head coach and oversaw Wanjala’s debut.

He entered with his side behind. Kenya equalised through Ogam.

He played 11 minutes, recorded one recovery and completed 11 of 13 passes, earning a 6.8 Sofascore rating.

Wanjala joined Valencia’s academy in the winter window and, in his first senior call-up, has already featured after earlier youth caps, notably with the under-20s.

His selection adds to the academy’s regular international presence, with 30 players called up across Europe, America and Africa in 2025/26.
