Wales edged past Liechtenstein 1-0 in Friday evening’s World Cup qualifying clash, with four Leeds United players featuring prominently in Vaduz.

Karl Darlow, Joe Rodon and Ethan Ampadu all completed 90 minutes, while Dan James played 66 minutes and supplied the assist for Jordan James’ 61st-minute winner. The winger also struck the post earlier in the half from Sorba Thomas’ cross.

Ampadu captained his country in the absence of Ben Davies and Aaron Ramsey, delivering a strong midfield display with 103 touches, two tackles, two clearances, one interception, six recoveries and four duels won. A late and harsh booking in the 86th minute means he’ll miss Tuesday’s final group game against North Macedonia in Cardiff.

Rodon impressed with a standout passing performance, completing 146 of 147 passes (99%), while also contributing a tackle, two clearances, six recoveries and three duels won.

Darlow remained solid throughout, earning a clean sheet on a night when Wales controlled proceedings and the Leeds contingent played key roles in keeping their qualification hopes firmly on track.

Wales must win Tuesday's match (7:45pm) to finish second behind Group J leaders Belgium and guarantee a home play-off semi-final in March.
