Ancelotti backs CBF plan to cut foreign player quotas from 2027 | OneFootball

Carlo Ancelotti has backed the Brazilian Football Confederation, CBF, after it approved a plan to reduce the number of foreign players listed per matchday from 2027, calling it important for giving Brazilian talent more minutes.

According to Coluna Do Fla, clubs in Serie A and Serie B have voted for a gradual cut, setting limits at eight in 2027, seven in 2028, six in 2029 and five in 2030. Flamengo, Bahia and Londrina were the three votes against, but the majority carried the proposal.

Ancelotti said the year-on-year reduction is very positive for the national game and for opportunities in the Brasileirão.

Meanwhile, Brazil are preparing for this FIFA window. Their first training match is against Australia at 07:00 Brasília time on Friday 25 at Queensland Country Bank Stadium in Townsville.

The teams meet again on 29 at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, also at 07:00 Brasília time. Brazil then face India for the first time on 3 October at 11:00 Brasília time at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan, also known as Salt Lake Stadium, in Kolkata.
