On Wednesday night, Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti announced the squad list of players called up for their upcoming fixtures this month.

The Selecao are scheduled to play two friendlies in Asia, against South Korea and Japan, and Ancelotti decided to recall the Real Madrid trio of Rodrygo Goes, Eder Militao, and Vinicius Jr. after having left them out during last month’s international break.

While Vinicius was always expected to be called up, given his importance in the Brazil setup, there had been question marks over Rodrygo’s spot, particularly given his disappointing returns over the past year.

However, explaining his decision to include the 24-year-old attacker in the squad, Ancelotti stated that he believes Rodrygo can be a very important player for Brazil.

“He’s doing very well right now. He doesn’t play much, but he’s doing well, in good physical condition. He’s a very important player for this national team,” said Ancelotti, as quoted by AS.

“He’s a forward who can play in all positions, and I think he can contribute a lot to the national team. Everyone knows Rodrygo. Last season he had some problems that he overcame, and now he’s very motivated. I want to see him here with us.”

As for Militao, the centre-back picked up a minor ankle injury last weekend against Atletico Madrid and ended up missing the UEFA Champions League clash against Kairat Almaty this past Tuesday.

Despite that, Ancelotti decided to call up the Real Madrid defender to the Brazil squad and confirmed that the player’s issue was only a knock and he would be fit soon.

“He had a problem in the last match, a knock, but the national team’s medical committee and Real Madrid are in contact. I spoke with him, and if he’s okay and has no problems, I’d like him to be with us,” confirmed Ancelotti.
