Ancelotti honoured as Mesa Redonda names 2025’s best, see winners

On Monday, TV Gazeta held the 22nd edition of the Mesa Redonda Trophy. The event awarded the best players of the season. Palmeiras dominated the ideal team, with four names.

The selection was composed of: Hugo Souza (Corinthians); Matheuzinho (Corinthians), Gustavo Gómez (Palmeiras), Léo Ortiz (Flamengo), and Reinaldo (Mirassol); Andreas Pereira (Palmeiras), Matheus Pereira (Cruzeiro), and Arrascaeta (Flamengo); Flaco López (Palmeiras), Vitor Roque (Palmeiras), and Kaio Jorge (Cruzeiro).

The best coach was Filipe Luís from Flamengo. The coach won the Brazilian Championship and the Libertadores with the Rubro-Negro.

Top Scorer

Kaio Jorge, from Cruzeiro, was the top scorer in the Brasileirão, with 21 goals. Throughout the season, he scored 26 goals.

Star Player

Arrascaeta, from Flamengo, was chosen as the best player of the season. The midfielder played 61 games, scored 23 goals, and made 18 assists in 2025. Additionally, he won the Libertadores and the Brazilian Championship.

Breakthrough Player

Gui Negão, from Corinthians, was elected the breakthrough player of the year. The 18-year-old forward played 24 matches, scored five goals, and made two assists.

Historic Coach

The 22nd edition of the Mesa Redonda Trophy paid a special tribute to Carlo Ancelotti, coach of the Brazilian National Team.

The experienced manager received the "Tribute to the greatest winners in history" trophy and a plaque. With the awards in hand, the Italian expressed his satisfaction in working in Brazil.

“I imagined it would be like this. The passion of the fans, the beauty of the country. I really enjoy living here in Brazil and working with the CBF,” he said.

Ancelotti also spoke about Neymar's situation. He believes that the Peixe's midfielder has enough time to recover and be well for the 2026 World Cup.

“Obviously yes, he has time to recover, train, and be well. All players need to be well by June,” he added.

Golden Campaign

Another coach honored by TV Gazeta was Rafael Guanaes. He stood out leading Mirassol throughout 2025 and received a plaque.

The team from the interior of São Paulo, which was in Serie B last year, finished the Brasileirão in fourth place and secured a spot in the 2026 Libertadores.

“We managed to write a beautiful story and achieved our goals. Our environment greatly favors performance, we focused and worked well with the team. You can expect a lot of work and courage to face the big teams the same way we face the smaller ones,” said Guanaes.

Women's Football

Coach Lucas Piccinato won the award for best women's football coach. The coach led Corinthians to the titles of the Brazilian Championship and the Libertadores in 2025.

The Brabas, in fact, were also honored as the standout women's football team. Director Iris Sesso received a special plaque and celebrated.

“It moves me a lot. It's work, day by day. It's a lot of work. It was a big challenge to take on the project. Taking something that is already at the top is difficult to maintain, which is what we did. We shielded the squad amid political and financial problems,” she said.
