André Carrillo returned to action for Peru in Saturday's 2-0 friendly defeat to Canada, coming on at half-time at BC Place in Vancouver.

The Corinthians midfielder replaced Wilder Cartagena and played the final 45 minutes. He recorded 21 touches, completed 12 of 14 passes and attempted one cross, adding two defensive actions. According to Meu Timao, he had been diagnosed with a left thigh muscle oedema before Corinthians' last match ahead of the international break.

He missed the 3-1 defeat to Fluminense in the 28th round of the Brasileirão. He remained in Mano Menezes' squad and continued his recovery with Peru's medical staff, but was not ready to feature in the defeats to the United States and Mexico.

Since Menezes took charge, Carrillo has made every squad and appeared in four other friendlies, starting two and captaining against Haiti.

Peru conclude this window on 6 October at 20:45 against Colombia in Miami. Given the gap of less than 24 hours between the fixtures, Carrillo is not expected to be available to Fernando Diniz for the trip to Internacional on 7 October in Porto Alegre.
