André Jardine has said managing in Spain is a long held ambition, while insisting he is very happy at Club América.

"I have always loved Spanish football and I follow La Liga closely. I want to leave Mexico to take my next step and experience La Liga from inside a club, it motivates me. It is a dream I will work hard to make reality, but without hurry because I am very happy at América," he told ESPN.

Jardine arrived at Club América in mid 2023 and delivered immediate success, lifting a historic treble and six trophies in a year and a half.

He went through 2025 without silverware and has begun 2026 with some negative results, though América remain alive in the two competitions they are contesting.

His future has drawn discussion. Botafogo of Brazil's Serie A spoke to him months ago about their head coach role. He turned it down to stay at América, and his position at the club is currently secure.
