Harry Winks could be brought back into Leicester City’s plans at the King Power Stadium this weekend, with interim boss Andy King weighing up his options for Saturday’s visit of Charlton.
LeicesterMercury.co.uk reports that Winks has not played since late November, having been omitted from Marti Cifuentes’ final 12 matchday squads in all competitions. His recent exclusion and contract position had thrown his future into doubt.
Boubakary Soumare’s sale has left only three other fit senior midfielders for Charlton, Hamza Choudhury, Louis Page and Bobby De Cordova-Reid. King said Winks has continued to train with the group and that he will decide after today’s session, with his focus on Charlton.
Winks has six months left on his contract and will depart on a free this summer unless he is sold in the coming days or agrees new terms.
It is understood his training levels contributed to his absence under Cifuentes over the past two months. Before the Spaniard arrived, he was also left out of Ruud van Nistelrooy’s final handful of games.
