ANRESF opens conflict probe into Vasco da Gama SAF sale | OneFootball

ANRESF has formally opened the Procedimento de Verificação de Conflito nº 001/2026 to review Marcos Lamacchia’s bid to take control of Vasco da Gama SAF through Almirante Participações. The regulator confirmed on Thursday 27 that the process is under way.

Alongside the launch, temporary preventive measures were imposed on both Vasco da Gama SAF and Club de Regatas Vasco da Gama.

These include restrictions on direct sporting and commercial ties with Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras, strict monitoring of credit and loans, and limits on appointing people linked to the investor to roles in Vasco’s management.

The agency stressed that opening the procedure is not a final ruling, does not confirm irregularities, and does not halt the sale’s judicial processing. The case is sealed to protect corporate clauses and confidential financial data.

Flamengo president Luiz Eduardo Baptista, known as Bap, has publicly challenged the deal and approached sporting bodies seeking to block it at São Januário. He cites a potential conflict of interest because Lamacchia is the stepson of Palmeiras president Leila Pereira, with José Roberto Lamacchia, founder of Crefisa, married to her and acting as financial guarantor for the transaction.

Vasco’s board, notified of the decision, is preparing submissions and technical documents to argue the sale’s compliance and that Lamacchia’s affinity does not breach national sporting rules. Judicial homologation continues on the timetable set by the Fourth Business Court of Rio de Janeiro, with a deadline of four September for audit completion and the release of the UPI Equity tender.
