Case opened! Flamengo-led ANRESF confirms probe into Vasco SAF

The National Football Regulation and Sustainability Agency (ANRESF) officially confirmed this Thursday (27) the opening of Conflict Verification Procedure No. 001/2026 to analyze the transaction for the acquisition of controlling interest in Vasco da Gama SAF by businessman Marcos Lamacchia, of Almirante Participações.

Amid the formalization of the precautionary measure, the Arena Cruzmaltina profile pointed out on social media that ANRESF president Caio Resende is an openly declared Flamengo supporter. The claim generated strong repercussions among fans and executives because of the recent political context, since the institutional offensive against the sale of Vasco SAF came directly from the top leadership of the red-and-black club.

Flamengo president Luiz Eduardo Baptista (Bap) formally raised public questions and contacted sports authorities in an attempt to block the deal at São Januário. The executive alleged a supposed conflict of interest because Marcos Lamacchia is the stepson of Palmeiras president Leila Pereira, since the investor’s father, José Roberto Lamacchia (founder of Crefisa), is married to the green-and-white executive and acts as the financial guarantor of the transaction.

?What ANRESF determined in the procedure involving Vasco SAF

In the statement released on its official channels, the regulatory body said it applied temporary preventive measures to both Vasco da Gama SAF and Club de Regatas Vasco da Gama.

The determinations established by the agency include:

Restrictions on direct sporting and commercial relations with Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras;
Strict monitoring of credit operations and financial loans;
Limits on the possible appointment or nomination of people linked to the investing company in Vasco’s management.

The agency emphasized that the opening of the procedure does not constitute a final judgment, does not confirm irregularities, and does not suspend the processing of the sale transaction before the courts. The case is under seal to preserve corporate clauses and confidential financial data of the parties involved.

?Vasco’s defense and next steps in the negotiations

After being notified of the decision, Vasco’s board is preparing statements and technical documents to prove the fairness of the sale and demonstrate that Lamacchia’s relation by marriage does not violate national sports regulations.

Despite the opening of the regulatory case, the judicial approval process remains on the schedule set by the 4th Business Court of Rio de Janeiro, with a deadline until September 4 for the completion of the audit stages and the release of the UPI Equity bidding process.
