Sunderland are turning attention to summer recruitment as an important update emerges on Anthony Patterson and fresh links to Victor Munoz surface.
They have endured a bruising week, losing to Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest with nine conceded in six days. At Villa Park they levelled from 3-1 down before Tammy Abraham’s stoppage-time winner, then Forest led 4-0 by 37 minutes as Elliot Anderson struck after the break.
Patterson joined Millwall on loan in January for regular football. He has kept five clean sheets in 13 Championship outings, aiding the Lions’ promotion push.
ChronicleLive reports Millwall are exploring keeping Patterson for 2026/27, potentially dependent on promotion. Coventry City are monitoring amid uncertainty over Brighton loanee Carl Rushworth, while Hull City and West Brom have also been credited with interest.
Sunderland reshaped their wings in January as Simon Adingra left for Monaco and Nilson Angulo arrived. Before Angulo, they were linked with Osasuna’s Munoz but did not meet his €40m (£34.7m) clause.
AS reports Sunderland are again interested in Munoz, with Osasuna braced for bids and intent on holding firm. Real Madrid have a buyback clause, and Munoz has six goals and five assists in 34 games, with Osasuna 10th in La Liga.
