Anton Stach has vowed to do everything he can to return quickly after suffering an injury in Leeds United’s 1-0 home win over Brighton. The player said in a post that he aims to be back as soon as possible and thanked supporters.
He was forced off in the 74th minute after landing awkwardly from an aerial challenge with Carlos Baleba. In clear pain during on-pitch treatment, he initially tried to continue after a brief exchange with Daniel Farke.
Stach took a corner, then went to ground again. He received further treatment and was stretchered off, shirt over his head and blood visible through his sock at ankle level, with Joel Piroe coming on. Leeds later clinched victory through an added-time Dominic Calvert-Lewin effort.
His Instagram update featured a playful edit that swapped his feet for hands, with boots on his hands, and reflected on the home finale, the support and the frustration of being withdrawn, before pledging to work for a swift return.
Farke said the opponent fell on Stach’s knee or ankle and that the midfielder tried to keep going. He hoped the issue was not serious but accepted it was too painful to continue.
With the World Cup around the corner, the manager cautioned against guessing, describing it as an ankle injury and saying they must wait for the medical team’s assessment. Stach is a major doubt for Sunday’s final-day trip to West Ham and is unlikely to be risked, with Leeds already safe. The bigger concern is his Germany prospects as squads begin to be announced for next month’s tournament across the USA, Canada and Mexico.
