Anton Stach has vowed to do everything to return quickly after suffering injury in Leeds United’s 1-0 home win against Brighton.
The midfielder landed awkwardly from an aerial challenge with Carlos Baleba in the 74th minute and, after treatment and a brief attempt to continue that included taking a corner, went down again. He was stretchered off and replaced by Joel Piroe, with the result sealed in added time. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Daniel Farke said the opponent fell on Stach’s knee or ankle, he had tried to keep going, and they must wait for medical assessment, with hope it is not serious so close to the World Cup.
Stach later posted on Instagram, thanking fans for their support across the season and promising to do everything to come back as soon as possible, alongside a playful image editing his hands and feet.
The 27-year-old is a major doubt for Sunday’s Premier League final-day trip to West Ham and is unlikely to be risked given Leeds are safe.
The greater concern for him is international selection, with Germany’s World Cup squad announcements already beginning ahead of this summer’s tournament in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
