Arab Cup: Algerian players react after the 2–0 win

Driven by a masterful collective performance, Algeria’s A’ national team clinched a fully deserved qualification for the quarter-finals of the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 with a convincing victory over Iraq (2-0). Reduced to ten men as early as the 4th minute, the Iraqis quickly felt the Algerian pressure, which paid off with a powerful header from Mohamed Amine Tougaï just before halftime, followed by a second goal inadvertently scored by Saâd Natiq after the break. This victory, which secures first place in Group D, unleashed the voices of Algeria’s key players, all determined to keep their momentum alive in the tournament.
“The next step is to take it match by match and win every game to go as far as possible in the competition.”
Houssem Mrezigue, for his part, expressed both gratitude and ambition:
“Al Hamdouli'Allah for being able to take part in this match, it's an honor for me... and we hope, why not, to win the title again this time and make our people proud.”
He also made sure to thank his coach:
“I thank coach Bougherra for the trust he places in me.”
Adam Ounas, highly active throughout the contest, echoed the same determined tone:
“We're all happy... we're going to keep pushing forward and accelerate.”
He also warned against any complacency:
“There are no small teams in this Arab Cup.”
Finally, captain Yacine Brahimi praised the squad’s discipline while stressing the need to stay focused:
“Al Hamdouli'Allah, it’s a fantastic win... but we need to recover because we have another big match in three days.”
All these statements reflect a clear ambition: to defend the title with determination and take the Greens as far as possible in this tournament.
