According to Globo.com, Jhon Arias has suffered a right hamstring injury and will miss Palmeiras’ match against Mirassol on Sunday, 18:30, at Maião in the Campeonato Brasileiro. The club consider the issue minor.
Left-back Piquerez was diagnosed with oedema in his right thigh on the squad’s return to training. The Uruguayan has a strong chance of being rested for the game.
Arias limped off against Santos and underwent tests on Thursday morning at the Academia de Futebol, which confirmed the problem.
The positive news concerns Gustavo Gómez. Withdrawn at half-time as a precaution in the Santos match, he has no injury and is cleared to play.
Thursday’s session saw the starters complete recovery work. The rest of the group trained on a reduced-size pitch.
Paulinho took part in the on-pitch work, lifting hopes of a weekend return. The forward is in the final stage of his physical transition.
Palmeiras will train twice more at the Academia de Futebol before facing Mirassol, once on Friday and once on Saturday. On Sunday they play looking to protect a six-point lead at the top of the Brasileirão.
