Aritz Elustondo has been unveiled as a PAOK Thessaloniki player, the club said in a post that confirmed his arrival with photos of him in the black and white kit.
The defender announced on 6 May that he would not continue at Real Sociedad. The club did not offer a new deal and his contract expired in June.
He keeps the number six he wore at Real from 2019, a shirt number with which he won two Copas del Rey.
A former Real captain, he will work under Alessio Lisci, former Osasuna coach and the new head of the project at the Greek club. PAOK will play in the Europa League next season.
In the launch video he is seen entering the Toumba Stadium, heading for the pitch as supporters’ chants sound, then presenting the shirt and shouting the club’s name.
Elustondo begins a new chapter in Greece after 313 appearances for Real and more than 10 seasons in La Liga. In 26/27 he could meet his former team-mates in the Europa League, depending on the draw.
