Arnaud Kalimuendo: Frankfurt ‘tried everything’ but Forest keep forward | OneFootball

Eintracht Frankfurt pushed to bring Arnaud Kalimuendo back after last season’s loan, but the striker has stayed at Nottingham Forest after impressing new head coach Oliver Glasner in pre-season.

“We tried everything. But it didn’t work because of the other side,” said Frankfurt boss Adi Hutter. He told Bild, which also claimed owner Evangelos Marinakis blocked a deadline-day return.

Kalimuendo spent the second half of last season in Frankfurt. The Bundesliga club did not take up a purchase option and instead looked to renegotiate the fee.

Interest reportedly persisted into Tuesday’s deadline, yet Forest kept the Frenchman.

Hutter added: “We’ll stay the way we are. And I’m happy with that. As long as they’re fit, I want to let the lads up front run. We’re sticking with that for now because it’s worked well in many games.”

Glasner said last month that Kalimuendo showed why Forest signed him, praising his quality, understanding of the game and goal threat after three pre-season goals. He noted the forward’s work-rate and pace, and believes he can cover several positions, including as an attacking wing-back if required.
