Otavio, Knauff, Wünsch and an own goal helped Eintracht to a deserved 4-0 friendly win against second-tier side Eintracht Braunschweig.
A fast-paced and intense game developed from the outset on Pitch 4 at Deutsche Bank Park, where Adi Hütter’s side created the first chance in the sixth minute. After Ansgar Knauff’s effort was saved by Benjamin Uphoff, Ayoube Amaimouni’s follow-up was blocked by the Braunschweig defence.
Santos well placed
The second-tier side posed the Eagles a number of problems, defended solidly and carved out their first opportunity in the 19th minute through Aaron Opoku, whose shot from 16 metres was comfortably saved by Kaua Santos.
Otavio with the breakthrough
Just over half an hour in, Frankfurt took the lead when Mario Götze’s corner was headed in by Otavio from close range, giving them a slender but deserved 1-0 lead at the interval.
Koch fires over, Tempelmann own goal
Robin Koch, who was deployed in midfield, had the first chance of the second half, but sent his shot from 16 metres over the bar in the 48th minute. Ten minutes later, Lino Tempelmann turned a cross from Knauff into his own net while attempting to clear, making it 2-0 to Hütter’s side.
Knauff and Wünsch seal victory
In the closing stages, Knauff made it 3-0 with a shot through a crowd of players in the box (68’), before Paul Wünsch headed home (79’) to clinch a deserved 4-0 friendly win.
