Arrascaeta says he bears no grudge against Estudiantes despite the group-stage shoulder fracture that dashed his 2026 World Cup hopes, and he expects a demanding Copa Libertadores semi-final for Flamengo.

According to Coluna Do Fla, Flamengo reached the last four after a 1-1 draw with Del Valle on Thursday 17, with the Uruguayan coming off the bench to level following a mistake by goalkeeper Quintana, sealing progress on aggregate.

In the earlier group game in La Plata, he landed awkwardly in a challenge with Piovi and fractured his right clavicle, sidelining him for a long spell. He joined Uruguay’s preparations for the 2026 World Cup but was not fit to feature.

Speaking in the Maracanã mixed zone, he said injuries are part of football and cannot be predicted, and that Flamengo must focus on preparing as well as possible. He described Estudiantes as a strong side who played very well against Corinthians, while stressing the focus should be on themselves.

The semi-final opens in Argentina in the week of 13-14 October, with the return at the Maracanã the following week. Flamengo next face Red Bull Bragantino in the Brasileirão on Sunday 20 at 18:30 Brasília time, at the Maracanã.
