Flamengo are into the 2026 Copa Libertadores semi-finals after a 1-1 draw with Independiente del Valle at the Maracanã, following a 2-0 first-leg win in Quito. According to Coluna Do Fla, the day’s agenda also centred on criticism of the pitch and a flare-up in the stands.

On Thursday 17, Flamengo laboured to see off the Ecuadorian side at the Maracanã, progressing on aggregate after their 2-0 win in Quito.

Arrascaeta, who scored in the draw, complained that the Maracanã surface is deteriorating.

After celebrating with team-mates, goalkeeper Agustín Rossi went towards the stand and argued with a home supporter. Reports indicated the fan had been criticising the team before the goal.

Flamengo will face Estudiantes of Argentina in the semi-finals. The first leg is set for 13, 14 or 15 October away, venue to be confirmed. The return falls on 20, 21 or 22 October at the Maracanã.
