Flamengo are awaiting Arrascaeta’s arrival in Rio de Janeiro at 16:00 Brasília time on Wednesday 30 after he was injured on Uruguay duty. On Thursday morning he will undergo final assessments before surgery on his left wrist begins soon after.

According to Coluna Do Fla, this is his fifth injury with the national team since he joined Flamengo, costing 118 days and 18 matches to date. Those totals will rise after the current international window.

In 2020 he sustained a left thigh biceps strain that sidelined him for 12 days. In 2021 a right thigh strain kept the No 10 out for 44 days.

In 2025 he had a right adductor problem, requiring 14 days of recovery. Earlier in 2026 a right calf muscle injury ruled him out for 48 days, and the latest issue occurred on Monday 28.

The club are pessimistic about a return inside six weeks, so they expect to have him only for a potential Libertadores final on 28 November. He is expected to miss both semi-finals against Estudiantes, the first leg on 15 October in La Plata and the second on 22 October at the Maracanã.
