Arsenal have completed the signing of Axel Donczew from Cardiff City.
The 16-year-old has joined the club as part of the first-year scholarship intake. He has also signed a pre-contract agreement that will lead to a professional deal when he turns 17.
He made headlines last October when he became Cardiff’s youngest-ever senior player.
Donczew was only 15 years old when he featured as a substitute in the EFL Trophy match against Newport County.
The Welsh youth international made his second first-team appearance for the Bluebirds last December against Wimbledon.
He mainly plays on the left wing, but he can also operate as an attacking midfielder.
Arsenal have made several top additions to the squad this summer as they aim to defend their Premier League crown.
They have signed Christos Tzolis, Bruno Guimaraes and Ezri Konsa from Club Brugge, Newcastle United and Aston Villa respectively.
The Gunners still want a world-class forward and have set their sights on Julian Alvarez.
Atletico Madrid have shown a willingness to consider an offer from the English champions. However, Alvarez has already told manager Mikel Arteta he doesn’t want to join Arsenal.
The Argentine could change his mind, but a move to the Emirates Stadium looks unlikely with the summer transfer window closing on September 1.
