In a recent report, Sport BILD claimed that Arsenal are keeping tabs on Red Bull Leipzig midfielder Assan Ouedraogo. It is believed that the Gunners are facing competition from Barcelona and Liverpool in the race to sign the German youngster next year.
Ouedraogo has enjoyed a decent run of form at the German club as he has produced a series of impressive displays for them in the Bundesliga. The 19-year-old has scored three goals and earned four assists in 12 appearances for RB Leipzig this season across multiple competitions.
The talented teenager has caught the eye at times in the opponent’s half and deserves credit for averaging 2.95 shots per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. He has kept 50% of his attempts on target. Ouedraogo has even been careful when distributing possession from midfield after completing 81.5% of his attempted passes in the German top tier (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at the Bundesliga club will run out in the summer of 2029. Hence, it won’t be easy for Arsenal to sign him on the cheap next year.

Ouedraogo can strike the ball with power from long range and has got the vision to engineer a few decent chances in the final third. He is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals up top.
The gifted talent is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also fill in as an attacking midfielder or as a left-winger if asked to do so. However, it remains to be seen whether the German sensation can cope with the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League if the Gunners manage to snap him up next year.
Ouedraogo would enhance the quality of Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta’s midfield in the long run. He is already good enough to serve as a good, rotational piece in the North London club’s squad.
At 19, Ouedraogo has got the potential to be a future star in English football. He is undoubtedly a prospect to watch out for in the long run, so Arteta should focus on recruiting him next year.
