Arsenal are considering a move for Brest defender Raphael Le Guen, according to French outlet Foot Mercato.
Gunners manager Mikel Arteta wants a short-term cover for William Saliba at the Emirates Stadium club.
Arsenal have been keeping tabs on a couple of defenders and could look to bring Le Guen to the North London club.
However, the Gunners will face competition from both Crystal Palace and Fulham for the services of the 6ft 6in French defender.
New Palace manager Pierre Sage knows the 19-year-old from his time in Ligue 1, but a move to Arsenal could be more appealing even if he has agreed personal terms with the Eagles.
Arteta would prefer to sign a more experienced centre-back, with Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa and Bayer Leverkusen’s Jarell Quansah on his radar.
However, getting the England international duo has proven tricky so far and a move for Le Guen could be on the cards.
His major strengths are winning aerial duels, intercepting and blocking the ball, but he does not have plenty of experience having only started playing professionally last season.
The Arsenal target made six Ligue 1 appearances and could be eyed as a long-term signing for the North London club.
A move to the Premier League could appeal to Le Guen as it would give him a chance to show the senior national team what he is capable of doing.
