Arsenal forward Reiss Nelson has left the club after his contract was terminated by mutual consent.

The 26-year-old made his debut for the Gunners nine years ago, having joined the Arsenal academy at the age of 8. The winger went on to make 90 first-team appearances.

Nelson gained experience on loan at both Hoffenheim and Feyenoord earlier in his career. The attacker has now spent the past two seasons on loan at Fulham and Brentford respectively. He will leave Arsenal as a free agent, after agreeing to end his contract at the Emirates a year early.

Nelson is not the only Arsenal forward who is set to exit the club this summer. Mikel Arteta opened up earlier today about having “difficult conversations” with both Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli.

The Brazilian duo are both yet to feature this season. They were absent from the squad for both the Community Shield and Arsenal’s win over Coventry on the Premier League’s opening night.

“Well, it’s something to do with the numbers that we have in the squad at the moment,” explained Arteta. “And the way we’re managing that kind of situation individually with all the players that have some personal situations.”

After falling down the pecking order at the Emirates, both Jesus and Martinelli could depart before the end of the transfer window in five day’s time. The Gunners could strengthen further in attack too, with the arrival of Julian Alvarez remaining a possibility.
