Reiss Nelson has left Arsenal after his contract was terminated by mutual consent, making him a free agent. The 26-year-old winger came through the Hale End academy.

The club said in a statement that he departs as he seeks more regular minutes than Mikel Arteta could offer. He was entering the final year of his deal, which included a club option for 12 months, and Arsenal chose to facilitate an exit now.

Interest in Nelson is strong, with several Premier League and overseas clubs monitoring his situation. West Ham United previously held talks with Arsenal over a potential deal, and he is expected to take time assessing projects before deciding on his next move.

Nelson spent 2025-26 on loan at Brentford, a campaign hindered by physical setbacks and limited chances. He made 13 appearances in all competitions for Keith Andrews's side, with three starts, all in domestic cups.

A 2024-25 loan at Fulham also stalled, his season ending in December 2024 due to a significant hamstring injury.

He signed his first professional contract in December 2016 and made his debut in August 2017 against Chelsea in the Community Shield.

He later spent time on loan at Hoffenheim in 2018-19 and at Feyenoord, helping the Dutch side reach the Europa Conference League final, before earning a new deal in 2023.

He departs with exactly 90 Arsenal appearances, eight goals and nine assists, including a dramatic 97th-minute winner against Bournemouth in 2023.
