The Telegraph reports that Arsenal have held talks with Galatasaray over the potential availability of Victor Osimhen, with his name raised during wider negotiations that also involve Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri.
Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta and intermediaries for the Turkish champions are understood to have discussed a range of possibilities, the report said. It is unclear who first floated Osimhen, though Arsenal have long admired the former Napoli striker.
Galatasaray have lodged a proposal worth about £38.4 million for Martinelli. With the Brazilian in the final year of his deal, Arsenal are weighing their options before the window shuts.
The Istanbul club have also shown interest in 19-year-old midfielder Nwaneri, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Marseille. Arsenal are said to value the academy graduate at around £34.1 million.
Arsenal’s approach to Osimhen follows major obstacles in their pursuit of primary target Julián Álvarez. Atlético Madrid have refused to negotiate below a £100 million-plus valuation.
Osimhen completed a permanent €75 million move to Galatasaray after a prolific spell in Istanbul and scored 22 goals in all competitions last season. Any potential deal would be financially complex, though dialogue between the clubs is ongoing as the deadline nears.
