The Arsenal u21s took on Chelsea in the Premier League 2 on Saturday, and the team got bad news ahead of the game with neither Max Dowman nor Marli Salmon being named in the squad.
The two youngsters are among the team’s top talents, but they were seemingly held back for first-team training and possible matchday involvement this weekend.
Playing away to Chelsea without two of your best players isn’t an easy task, and Jesse Derry and Reggie Walsh scored either side of the half-time break to give the hosts a 2-0 lead.

Arsenal had been on a bit of a run going into the Chelsea game, winning four and drawing two of their previous six matches. But they would need a huge comeback to avoid ending that unbeaten streak on Saturday, 2-0 down after an hour.
Former Chelsea youngster Marcell Washington provided the inspiration for such a comeback, latching onto a cross from substitute Osman Kamara to score at the near post.
Washington wheeled away in celebration, racing back to his own half as Arsenal pushed for an equaliser. Charles Sagoe Jr. went close on a couple of occasions, and Kamara almost turned in a cross from Andre Harriman-Annous, but the match ultimately finished 2-1.
