Arsenal return to Premier League duty with a fixture that carries both opportunity and risk, a meeting with Wolves at Emirates Stadium that pitches top against bottom. The context is sharpened by last weekend’s late drama, a gut punch delivered by Emi Buendia that ended an 18 match unbeaten sequence. Yet there was a steadiness about the midweek response in Europe, a reminder that this side tends to realign quickly.
Mikel Arteta’s squad have seen their advantage trimmed to two points following Manchester City’s win over Sunderland, although the timing of this match offers a chance to stretch the gap to five before City visit Crystal Palace. It is not the first time Arsenal have been charged with setting the tone of a weekend and it will not be the last. The Champions League win over Club Brugge offered a degree of reassurance, not least because several attackers found rhythm again.
Team news will shape the mood further. Declan Rice could return after illness, while William Saliba remains a doubt having missed four matches. Leandro Trossard, also injured against Aston Villa, is racing the clock. Jurrien Timber is waiting on a late fitness test following his absence in Bruges and Marli Salmon stands ready if required. Riccardo Calafiori is suspended which clears the way for Myles Lewis-Skelly to continue at left back. Gabriel, Kai Havertz, Cristhian Mosquera and Max Dowman remain sidelined.
Bukayo Saka and Eberechi Eze may rejoin the starting XI, although Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli both strengthened their claims by scoring against Club Brugge.
The story at Wolves is a bleaker one. Eight straight defeats, including a heavy loss to Manchester United, have placed them in early jeopardy. The absence of midfielder Marshall Munetsi does little to help, although Joao Gomes is available again after his suspension. This is a squad desperate for stability but struggling for clarity, and the trip to north London arrives at a difficult moment.

Arsenal vs Wolves kicks off at 8pm GMT on Saturday 13 December 2025 at Emirates Stadium. TNT Sports will show the match live in the UK, with coverage beginning at 7pm.
The evidence points one way. Arsenal have won eight consecutive meetings with an aggregate score of 17-3 and last season’s corresponding fixture featured goals from Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka. With attacking options returning and Wolves vulnerable, especially if they repeat the defensive openness shown at Old Trafford, this could be a restorative evening for Arteta’s players.
Arsenal to win 3-0.
