Arsenal XI vs Ipswich Town – Predicted lineup and team news

Article image:Arsenal XI vs Ipswich Town – Predicted lineup and team news

Arsenal open their Carabao Cup campaign at Ipswich Town on Tuesday, with Mikel Arteta’s side unbeaten in six matches across all competitions this season.

Victory at Portman Road would extend Arsenal’s winning start to the campaign to seven games for the first time since 2004-05. The Gunners have not won this competition since 1993 and have finished runners-up on four occasions since, most recently losing last season’s final to Manchester City, giving Tuesday’s tie the feel of a fresh opportunity to end that wait.

Arsenal team news

William Saliba remains out with a back problem and is not expected back for at least a couple of months. Ben White is a fresh concern after limping off with a groin issue during Saturday’s win at Sunderland, and Cristhian Mosquera has yet to return from a muscle problem of his own.

With Saliba, White and Mosquera all unavailable or in doubt, Jurrien Timber, only recently back from a lengthy absence, could be asked to start sooner than Arteta would like, though 17-year-old Marli Salmon is also under consideration at right-back. Arteta is expected to make close to nine changes in total, with Kepa Arrizabalaga continuing as his cup goalkeeper and Viktor Gyokeres handed a chance to lead the line.
