Juventus have terminated Brazilian midfielder Arthur’s contract, ending his spell early on Friday. La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that every minute he played cost the club more than Cristiano Ronaldo and Dusan Vlahovic.
Arthur, announced in 2020, made 63 official appearances for the Turin side. The report put his cost at 31,000 euros per minute, compared with 20,000 for Cristiano Ronaldo and 15,000 for Vlahovic.
It added that he earned roughly 1.6 million euros per appearance and that total expenditure on the player, including wages and other outlays, topped 100 million euros.
Arthur is expected to receive compensation worth about 25 percent of the roughly 6 million euros due in his final year, after renewing on reduced terms in 2024.
His camp initiated the push to end his time with Juventus. He returned to Italy in July after his Grêmio loan was not extended, featured in pre-season friendlies, but was outside the coaching staff’s plans.
Before that return, Grêmio and Arthur explored prolonging the loan yet failed to agree on salary and contract length. The midfielder sought a free release from Juventus and was willing to forgo remaining monthly wages until June 2027.
Now a free agent, he has attracted enquiries from Brazilian clubs including Corinthians, Cruzeiro and Fluminense, and is open to new proposals for the rest of the season.
