AS Saint-Étienne have confirmed on Saturday the backroom team for new head coach Ian Cathro, who succeeded Philippe Montanier in early June, with newly retired Eliaquim Mangala joining ahead of next season.

The club said in a statement that the former France international has ended his playing career to take up a role on the professional staff, bringing top-level experience and know-how. He won eight caps between 2013 and 2016.

Mangala played 15 matches for Saint-Étienne in 2022 and also featured for Estoril, where he played under Ian Cathro.

Two members of Cathro’s Estoril staff also arrive, David le Moël, with a particular focus on video analysis, and Bryant Lazaro.

Lazaro, an American aged 38, has worked in Spain and Norway and speaks fluent French.
