Joao Ferreira will miss ASSE's Ligue 2 meeting with Grenoble on Saturday, as he remains in the head-injury protocol. Kick-off is at 20:00 on 22 August.

He was treated on the Geoffroy-Guichard pitch during the 3-1 win over Clermont on 15 August. According to Le Progres, the club quickly reassured supporters over the right back's condition, but the protocol prevents his selection for matchday three.

Speaking on Thursday, head coach Ian Cathro said it is a natural process, not a dramatic situation, and there are steps to follow. On other absentees, he added that Mahmoud Jaber could rejoin the squad this weekend, stressing it remains only a possibility.

Jaber's 2026 has been difficult. He suffered an adductor injury in January, returned in April, played only one match, then required surgery.

For the other injured players, Lamba, El Jamali and Eymard, rehabilitation continues. Cathro also explained that the absence of Cardona, Csongvai, Bernauer and Larsonneur from Thursday's open training was simply squad management.
