Aston Villa are assessing a possible move for Sunderland striker Brian Brobbey as they consider attacking additions for the summer window.

Villa are believed to be in the market for a centre-forward to bolster Unai Emery’s options, despite Ollie Watkins remaining a key pick and Tammy Abraham arriving in the winter window.

“Aston Villa are looking to sign a new striker in the summer. They’ve been frustrated with Watkins and the other options because they haven’t had that regular goalscorer, so they’re looking at a few options.” He told Football Insider.

“Brian Brobbey is somebody they will have been looking at, because there’s always interest in players, strikers particularly, who are making a bit of a name for themselves.”

Brobbey has six goals and one assist from 24 Premier League appearances, and his hold-up play and runs into the channels have drawn praise. Interest is understood to be building in England and across Europe, with Villa among the clubs following his situation.
