At Arena event, Corinthians unveil futsal squad for 2026

Throughout the afternoon of this Tuesday (24), Corinthians held an event at Neo Química Arena to present the futsal team for the 2026 season. This year, the team will compete in the Supercopa Gramado, Campeonato Paulista, and the National Futsal League (LNF). The athletes are currently in preseason, undergoing physical and clinical assessments, and training at the Wlamir Marques Gymnasium.

Before giving interviews and being introduced in the Arena's press room, members of the department's board, staff, technical committee, and athletes toured the stadium, taking the Arena Tour, where they also had the opportunity to visit the People's Museum, located in the atrium of the West sector.

The ceremony began with images of the team's best moments in 2025, when they finished as runners-up in the Supercopa Gramado, National League, and Campeonato Paulista. On the other hand, they won the São Paulo Cup and the Mucho Más International Tournament in Spain. Additionally, some athletes who played for Corinthians futsal and are now in the professional men's soccer team (Felipe Longo, Dieguinho, and Gui Negão) or even playing in European soccer (Marquinhos and Gabriel Martinelli) were remembered. Malcom (Al-Hilal) and Willian, from Grêmio, were also mentioned.

Also present were the only two reinforcements for the Corinthians team so far for the season. The left-winger Kevin William, 23, who was at Ferroviária Pinda, and the pivot Fabinho, 37, who stood out at Uberlândia, scoring 25 goals in 40 games in the 2025 season, according to data from the Ogol website.

In an interview, Fabinho commented on his arrival at Corinthians, his on-court characteristics, and his dream of representing the Corinthians jersey: “It's almost cliché to say I'm a Corinthians fan, but my whole family is, so it was always a dream to play here. I worked hard throughout my career to get here. Here, thank God, today I can wear the jersey. When you play for a team as big as Corinthians, the expectation is to compete for titles.”

“We always have to be competing for titles among the greats and having a good year. Regarding my playing style, I'm a pivot, so it's more of a reference characteristic. And I aim to help the team with goals and also with defense and everything we can contribute on the court,” he said.

It's worth noting that for this season, the modality underwent a restructuring and is expected to invest more in its youth categories. At the end of last year, there was speculation that the current Corinthians board might halt the activities of the terrestrial sports department due to the club's high debt, now nearing R$ 3 billion, as a way to cut costs.

At the turn of the year, the following players left the Corinthians futsal team: the defender Marlon, wingers Luisinho, Luizinho Brizzi, Edimar, and Igor Carioca, as well as pivots Deives (retirement) and Israel Neto. Regarding the athletes who were playing in the youth categories, they are no longer part of the club: Hélio Neves, Iván Monteros, Mineiro, Axel Muñoz, Andrey, and Yann.

Corinthians will make their debut in the 2026 season on the upcoming March 5, Thursday, at 4 p.m. (Brasília time), against Carlos Barbosa, at the Perinão Gymnasium, Rio Grande do Sul, for the first round of the Supercopa Gramado.
