Atalanta have completed the signing of Jonathan Rowe from Bologna on a paid loan with an option to buy, for a total package of €40m.
The winger had been tracked for weeks, with Bologna reluctant to lose him after only one season and following the sale of Santiago Castro to Roma.
The agreement includes a €5m loan fee, an option to buy for €30m and a further €5m in add-ons.
That option becomes an obligation if certain conditions are met during the season.
Rowe joined Bologna last summer from Olympique Marseille for €17m plus add-ons, which included a 10 per cent sell-on clause.
The 23-year-old recorded eight goals and five assists in 44 competitive appearances for Bologna, having previously also played for Norwich.
