Atlético Madrid rule out Barcelona talks for Alvarez | OneFootball

Atlético Madrid have ended Barcelona’s pursuit of Alvarez, saying in a statement on Thursday there will be no talks over the Argentine forward’s transfer.

Its board unanimously backed the stance not to negotiate with Barcelona for Julian Alvarez.

The club is open to transfer discussions during windows, but only when conducted ethically, professionally and with mutual respect between clubs. Barcelona have not met those standards, and no negotiations have taken place.

After three seasons at Atlético, the Argentine forward has indicated he wants to join Barcelona. He was booed by his supporters at the start of the Liga season.

Atlético are convinced he will understand the decision and focus on working to help the club achieve its objectives.
