The coaching staff at La Liga giants Atlético Madrid are still sweating over the availability of Julián Alvarez for the upcoming Madrid Derby.
This comes with the Argentine continuing to struggle with a fitness complaint.
Frontman Alvarez was for his part forced to sit out both of Atlético’s last two outings, dominant back-to-back victories over Real Sociedad and Osasuna.
Whilst training last weekend, the 26-year-old pulled up with a sudden muscular problem. And if the latest word stemming from the Spanish media is anything to go by, then Alvarez, as of Thursday, is yet to recover.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:
‘As part of his recovery process, he hasn’t trained with the group since last Saturday when he suffered the injury. There are only two more training sessions with the team, one this Friday and another on Saturday, to assess his progress and recovery for Sunday’s match.’
Atlético’s final outing ahead of the upcoming international break comes in the form of a showdown with none other than arch rivals Real Madrid at the Metropolitano.
